Re: Spindle drive connection

Thanks for clearing that up Martin - I presumed Triacs only ever had SEM motors fitted.

Re: starting a milling program from its mid point

Use block search - might be best to familiarise yourself with it before doing it for "real" !

Re: Specification/Maunal for starmill

We designed the mechanism (eg, springs and actuating lever) but bought in the air intensifier (From Parker.com I believe)

Re: Spindle drive connection

One of these Sprint drives will be the right one - if its the SEM DC motor
http://www.sprint-electric.com/products/400-800-1200
Have a look at newer Triac documentation to see if you need the 400,800 or 1200

We don't have any of the B&P drives lying around sorry.

Re: Spindle drive connection

They're probably capacitors which get hot.
Someone could replace them but who knows what else is damaged.

Re: Spindle drive connection

What's the motor type?
I thought Large519 would have the old D.C. SEM motor and that the new drive we use is for the new, 3 phase, brushless Brook Crompton motor?

Re: Conect minor mill

I'm not sure we still have any info on the Conect machines - I certainly haven't seen the folder for a good few years and we've thrown a lot of stuff away in the move to new premises. I'd suggest that someone like angel tech might have an old RS232 Baldor Denstep controller which you could get worki...

Re: NovaTurn conversion to Gecko G540

1) The Sprint will run from 110 or 240 (Supply select jumper) 2) Can't answer this 3) The Sprint 'manual' says that the drives are not isolated (DO NOT connect to earth or other low voltage) This means you will need an isolated analogue spindle output - maybe the G540 has one :? Isloated spindle out...

Re: Spindle drive connection

Step mode will mean output is switched on/off at a certain frequency PWM may be a fixed frequency but the on to off ratio varies, giving the effect of an analogue output (eg 0V to 10V DC) An old spindle drive will almost certainly take an analogue command input 0 to 10V Not sure about the active lo ...

Re: UP! 3D Printer enclosure

There is a nice design here:
http://www.pp3dp.com/forum/viewtopic.ph ... ure#p13959
and another here:
http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:34032

You're right to worry about the electronics - I'd just make sure there is plenty of airflow through the bottom half of the UP!

Re: Spindle drive connection

I think you're confusing the spindle run+direction inputs with the speed command. I'm guessing that Mach3 outputs a PWM step signal to control the speed of a spindle. This type of output might or might not work on the spindle drives's analogue input (speed command input) You may need some extra comp...

Re: further problems

Is the X axis the problem - it sounds like it might be counting the wrong way ? If you move the tool to the left-hand side of the table the X should count negative (ie go down) If you move the tool to the front of the table the Y should count negative (ie go down) If you table is homing out to the r...

Re: Orac upgrade

Lots of people have updated this type of machine..the main thing to search for is the control type. (use the google search box at the bottom of the forum) There are other machine with the same control as yours that have been updated, so have a good look through this and the Triac and Starturn sections
