Re: Connecting a 4th axis drive to a denstep Red 7 seg board

Thanks for the reply on the eurocard page I must have posted there in error, wondered where it was. So am I out of luck making a 4 axis machine with a stock board? Or do your boards have a 4th axis?

Re: Connecting a 4th axis drive to a denstep Red 7 seg board

OK page 5 of the doc from your linked post only lists stepper 0 to 2, so where is stepper 3 IO for step, direction and microstep for the 4th axis? Or is that the option IO? I prob need to look at a 4 axis mnt file, are there any 4 axis machines already listed in vrmilling that have mnt files with a ...

Re: Baldor eurocard schematic and 96 way pinout

Thanks but the a/c/b table and page 5 onlly discusses stepper 0 to 2 does that mean there is no channel number 3 for a 4th stepper axis?

Re: Connecting a 4th axis drive to a denstep Red 7 seg board

So which are the pins which would work the 4th axis if it all goes to plan?
only X, Y and Z are discussed in your linked thread.

Or would I set that in the mnt file?

I'm software litterate so there may be hope...

Re: Connecting a 4th axis drive to a denstep Red 7 seg board

So it sounds like there is hope... Small steps for me, currently I have the steppers running in a harness as a pseudo novamill via vrmilling. They all move via jog control and the DC motor drive output runs up to over 100v. in my naivety i'd assumed that i could duplicate the settings in the vr mill...

Connecting a 4th axis drive to a denstep Red 7 seg board?

Hi, My spare novamill control box is now fully functional and I've decided to put it to good use, I have a set of compatible steppers and have them running perfectly on a prototype loom. I'm hoping to make a 4 axis hot wire foam cutter, obviously I need to control a 4th axis. Having dug around in th...

Machine Connector type and pin removal tool

Can anyone identify / reccomend a pin removal tool for a 1999 novamill machine connector?
I'm sure I sorted this a while back but cant find any record of what it was.

Re: Will VR milling 2.13 run on a Celeron 300Mhz machine

Yes it was an ebay purchase, it was guarenteed working but the battery life was unknown by the seller. That was fine for me as it'll always be on mains power, and for the move from the my study to the workshop on battery isnt an issue either. So I guess because tha battery is relatively expensive to...

Re: Novaturn and FLSTEP

For ther record the zip file attached above worked seemlessly when installing onto my "new" Toughbook within DOS (Win2k / Dos optional boot with 300mhz celeron processor, see my post re VRmilling in the software section). Glad I uploaded it 'cos to be honest I couldnt remember how to set FLStep up. ...

Re: Will VR milling 2.13 run on a Celeron 300Mhz machine

ok for the record 2.31 with a v2.1 mint chip runs super smooth on this toughbook cf-m34t with win2k and hardware rs232, compared to my previous setup (2.08, 2.0 chip, xp and usb rs232 adaptor) which was slow to respond and jerky. Connected it up and it just worked. Very happy especially with the tou...

Re: Will VR milling 2.13 run on a Celeron 300Mhz machine

Thanks again will keep that in mind.

For the record, as usual, I'm astounded at the speed and quality of support you folks give to a hobbyist for a machine thats been bought second hand and over a decade old.

Will VR milling 2.13 run on a Celeron 300Mhz machine

Hi, I've got hold of an old toughbook, the only discrepancy it has against the min OS in the manual for VR Milling 2.31 is that the procssor is a celeron one, and it has Win 2k installed. Will this cause me an issue for running my novamill? I'm not bothered about the simulation etc as that'll be don...

Re: Novamill control box fault, duff power supply??

Pic of link cable attached, I connected 0vDc (core 60 at DC transformer) to the wire that was connected to the 0v output tapping from the transformer (Core 28 straight to card pin 5) and similar for the 28v AC and +24v DC (Core 61 at DC transformer) wires hence that feeds +24v DC thru core 27 via th...

Re: Novamill control box fault, duff power supply??

Will check which way I've connected it up next time I'm in the workshop. However from memory I actually connected the 24v via the AC transformer end of the loom so as to include the breaker / fuse in the card logic supply loop. I also made sure the +24v line went via the breaker. Not sure which pin ...

Re: Spare Novamill based station wired differently...

OK I'll check to see if the link is fitted, I know the estop switch is fine as the machine works perfectly with my original (1999) control unit, its only the spare one (2001) thats not playing yet. For my education on NVM-D10, does the little arrow on the core either side of the E Stop Contact denot...

Jogging run away... eeek!

setup - XP and USB RS232 dongle with VR Milling 2.08 on laptop I've had some really good results with this setup for a while now, but recently I've had a couple of disturbing events where when using the cursor keys on my USB keyboard to jog the mill around it'll lock up and the mill will keep on tra...
