Re: I got a MicroMill and Microturn last week.

OK. I am back after a long hiatus with house stuff to deal with. @Martin There are 4 wires on the inside of the cabinet where the RS232 plug attaches to the machine. Red and blue on pins 2/3 Black wire simply looped between 4/5 White on 7. I am pretty discouraged. The machine was working and then it...

Re: I got a MicroMill and Microturn last week.

I have swapped cables and I believe the serial port on the PC is okay. I have been reading the reference guide for the Euro Step cards. The 8 on the red led display is a possible reset condition state. One of the causes is not a steady 5 Volts to the card. Does that sound right? Where should I have ...

Re: I got this Microturn last week. It is disassembled a bit

I was able to rotate the toolpost and get it away from the chuck. I am working on getting it apart enough to see what I need to order. I still need to get the other part of the coupler off the end of the leadscrew. I see how it goes together though. I need one motor coupler. I need one limit switch ...

Re: I got a MicroMill and Microturn last week.

I figured out the Work offset business. Easy enough. I ran a couple of small programs in the air just to get a sense of it. It all worked fine. (I will deal with tool offsets later once I figure out the tool library and the quick change holders. (I am thinking of a matched set of the common tools I ...

I got this Microturn last week. It is disassembled a bit.

I got this Microturn last week. It is partially taken apart. I can only guess why. The Z-axis motor is mechanically disconnected from the axis. It is still wired up. The position of the cutting tool is worrisome. However, there does not seem to be any sign of impact. I have not tried to hook it up t...

Re: I got a MicroMill and Microturn last week.

Martin, Wow thanks. (I was expecting a nightmare but I am happily surprised.) I hooked up the cable that came with it and nothing. I grabbed a null modem adapter from "the box" and It connected fine. I will go back and confirm the pinout later. It was well after bed time. It homed. It jogged in all ...

Re: I got a MicroMill and Microturn last week.

OK, so the L should mean LIMIT SWITCH OPEN per this. http://www.denfordata.com/bb/viewtopic.php?f=54&t=3167 What should I check. What does that likely mean? I hear a click of some sort when I open and close the door. The led display does not change though. I actuate the limit switches manually but n...

Re: New Owner / Introduction

Pete, Thanks for everything. I did see that document with the LED diagnostic codes but I misread it somehow. Current State of affairs: 1. I have a PC ready to go with a serial port. 2. I will change the RS232 cable as needed once I connect up to the VR Milling software. (I used to provide some suppo...

Re: New Owner / Introduction

I made up a serial cable tonight. I followed the PDF from this thread http://www.denfordata.com/bb/viewtopic.php?f=54&t=2351&hilit=machine+Link The PDF: http://www.denfordata.com/bb/download/file.php?id=1263 I even went back and double checked the pinouts for continuity afterward. (That surely is th...

Re: New Owner / Introduction

looking at the section on the wiring. its not that the wire is in the wrong place, the blue wire has 30 tagged on it as per the diagram. it looks more like the gnd wire to the speed pot has not been fitted back to the board. it may well be that the gnd has been picked up off another point. it would...

Re: New Owner / Introduction

I have been studying the cabinet and comparing it to the wiring diagrams. Where I can I am checking for voltages to get a sense of everything being as it should. I noticed this. On the TB10 block, The wires for the 5V Speed Pot are not where the drawing says they should be. Please see the two pictur...

Re: New Owner / Introduction

Pete, Reading the manual left me unclear about the expected starting state of the LED. Should I understand that it all looks normal so far? As you might imagine, I would hate to buy software for a 13 yr old unit and find a hardware problem (when I could have bought new electronics for about the same...

Re: New Owner / Introduction

I got the cover off and powered it up. The front door interlock seems to be engaged also. Having read the manual, I will pop off the bottom cover and release it manually for now. There is a label beside the Segment LED. EB043100 Rev. F The seven segment display is GREEN. When I power it up this is w...

New Owner / Introduction

Hello, My name is Kevin. I just got a Microrouter Compact that was built in 2004. It came out of a school. I just got the machine standalone, no extra computer or software media or cables. I was told they never set it up. (whatever that means, I am not sure) I would like to learn about these and fig...
