Re: TOE80 Turret Problem

I had this issue, so pulled the changer, and stripped it down. Turned out one of the wires had snapped to the switches in the back of the turret.

Re-soldered and it worked fine.

Re: RH80-6 drawings

I had this issue, but it ended up being I had the 3 phase in the wrong order into the back of the machine.

Where is it jamming? something under the turret onto the slant bed?

Micro DNC 2 - rs232 working on denford Cyclone OTB

I bought a little rs232 drip feeder for an older Haas VF0 I recently bought, figured I'd try it on my denford cyclone. Using the standard cable I plugged it in and stuck it to the machine (3 large magnets hold it on)it takes power from the rs233 connecter. Fires up and after reading a warning on her...

Has anyone got a diagram or even the name of the air actuated spindle used on the Denford Cyclone?

it looks like this and is leaking air like a sieve

Re: DM8 turret

I don't know if mine is the DM8, but the turret rotates back a little as it's drawn back in, I think it's on a ring of ramps. Have you checked for chips in the mechanism?

The switch is exactly as described, but go careful I snapped 3 switches as the soldering/wire is brittle after all this time.

cyclone - tool offsets

I thought i'd share this, as the info on how to do things on old FANUC's is getting hard to find. The common opinion seems to be to leave work shift alone, so I zeroed z and x out. To set tool offsets, navigate to MDI mode, move to a safe retract distance for a tool change and programme: T0101 M06 (...

Re: Denford Cyclone -turret positioning error

Finally got it up and running! I managed my first cuts yesterday and I'm cheffed. just a simple face, profile, and part off but it cut nicely. Axially mounted tools seem to be an issue as there is not enough Z depth if I run a 5c to 3 jaw adapter chuck to allow any reasonable length drill to get in ...

Re: Denford Cyclone -turret positioning error

I will post photos at some point, but for now I have managed to get the turret working! Me and a friend removed the turret and tore it down. Actually it is a surprisingly simple mechanism. Turns out some of the pins in the connector were damaged, a wire had snapped inside the turret and the phases w...

Re: FANUC OT-B MDI mode - how to?

Thanks, I found a guy on ebay selling the same machine as I and he very kindly chatted me through some stuff on the phone and then sent me his manual - absolute star of the bloke

Still can;t index the turret, but at least I can home the machine and code/save/recall programs now

FANUC OT-B MDI mode - how to?

Hi folks, Well the turret issue continues, I'm going to pull it off over the weekend and begin stripping it down. In other news I tried to get it to do a tool change via MDI in case the issue was with the manual dial/button. I have a user guide, FANUC 21i , but that doesn't match my controller or bu...

Re: Denford Cyclone -turret positioning error

UPDATE!

After spotting a picture with a very similar turret to mine I believe I have a Baruffaldi RH80 turret, but not the 6 position like most, I think it's an 8

Anyone have a diagram of the internals on these? I need to get it apart or to try to get it to rotate! Thanks

Re: Denford Cyclone -turret positioning error

Thanks its FANUC OT-B

The weird errors all cleared themselves after a few power up/down.

So if I was to strip the turret - would I lift it off the machine? Any experience of doing it, looks to heavy to be done by hand - engine crane?

Re: Denford Cyclone -turret positioning error

So I am loosing the will to live with this lathe. Powered it on today determined to have a go at fixing it. I had read elsewhere it can be the phase in the wrong order, so I swapped out the wires, powered it up, and got spindle drive fault 1008 414 servo fault x 424 servo fault z So I powered it dow...

Re: Denford Cyclone -turret positioning error

By way of update, I'm still completely stuck. Until I can release and reseat the turret I can't even re-try to see if the turret does it's funny spin spin spin thing anymore. If anyone could help i'd be really grateful - forgetting the original turret issue, essentially I hit E stop mid turret index...

Denford Cyclone -turret positioning error

Hi, You might have read of the nightmare I had with a little denford starturn 8, which went up in a puff of smoke a few months back. I bought a replacement denford, a cyclone fanuc (red top servos) Machine was tatty but had a demo and it all seemed to work except an air leak on the collet chuck Fina...

Starturn stopped responding

So my Starturn 8 with ATC turret stopped responding on the weekend. machine just stopped half way through a cut, and now the DOS based controller won't enter manual mode (where you interact with the machine), so it seems the interface has somehow got screwed. No idea why, (I have checked wires are p...

Thanks - thats a shame, but expected. Interesting that the slit wasn't effective. Did the second attempt put the grub screws straight onto the drill bit?

Denford LATHE ATC - drill holders

Hi, Does anyone know the name or style of drill holders the denford lathe ATC takes? I have one, which I could copy, but I'd rather look to see if I can buy them. They sit on the face of the ATC, and fit into a round hole held in by a couple of grub screws. Any help knowing what I am looking for wou...
