Re: Chess Pieces - Pawn
Woooo ... had another go today with making the chess piece, and I found if I added a few extra lines of code so that the cuts were half as deep as originally specified and slowed the feed speed down a tiny touch, I have had success ... (though I couldn't do the reverse cuts as I've knocked off the t...

Re: Chess Pieces - Pawn
Ta for that Rob ... I normally work in diameter too (Its a heck of a lot easier :) ) - however, the way the "demo chess set" is written in the Orac manual is in radius mode (so I turn the settings on the machine to run in radius mode) ... what it then means is its a 0.5mm deep cut (or 1mm off the st...

Chess Pieces - Pawn
Decided to have another play at making the chess pieces from the original Orac instruction book ... but I now remember why I gave up with this ... I'm running an Orac via Mach3 control, and I have 'transposed' (hand typed) the pawn piece as close as you can be from the written crib sheet from the Or...

QuickCAM Pro licence question + machine question
Hopefully someone can help me here ... what is the cost of the licence for QuickCAM Pro? Secondly - will the g-code generated from QuickCAM Pro run on any 2.5D CNC Mill?? I ask as I have a Sieg KX3 mill? I'm very well versed in ProDesktop 2000i, and so that's my preferred choice of CAD Software, but...

Orac Spindle Speed
I have a VFD (Siemens sinamics G110) to drive my motor, which all works fine and dandy (even the emergency stop is wired up to bring the motor to an almost complete stop in a fraction of a second) :) and when I got the lathe it was set to a max frequency of 50Hz. I've read, re-read and re-re-read th...

Re: Suppressed IEC Inlet
Cheers for that ... basically the filter/choke is there not so much to protect the Orac as such, but more to stop domestic interference? Just curious so I know if I can get back to machining by bypassing the filtered IEC inlet I would be far better to 'down tools' and wait until I get myself a mains...

Re: Orac Spindle Sensor
Hi have my spindle speed sensors running correctly, so that's fine ... but I sort of follow on with the query about the motor and getting to 2k chuck speed ... I have a VFD (Siemens sinamics G110) to drive my motor, which all works fine and dandy (even the 'emergency stop is wired up to bring the mo...

Suppressed IEC Inlet
Just wondering if anyone knows where to get a replacement or an equivalent IEC surge filtered Inlet power connector for the Orac.... mine went fizzle-pop with smoke last night, and I have removed the IEC panel socket, but Bulgin don't seem to list or make that part anymore. In a nutshell, what has e...
