Re: Unable to set a positive offset value in the X axis.

I've just tried to load and run VR Turn V 1:47 on my home computer and it doesn't like it. Do I need to get a licence disc from Denford in order to run VR Turn V1:47? The user licence that came with the package dates from 1997. Is the absence of an up to date licence part of my current list of contr...

Re: Unable to set a positive offset value in the X axis.

Here's where we are today. In an attempt to try and establish if my current problem with the wandering T01 offset values are software or hardware based I've tried installing the VR Turn version that was installed on the computer that came with the package, this is V1:45 This version still won't run ...

Re: Unable to set a positive offset value in the X axis.

Hi. Pete. The main problem is not being able to set T01 offset with any degree of faith that it will record its true position, which might be software but I've got a nasty feeling it might be hardware, have to see what Martin thinks.

Re: Unable to set a positive offset value in the X axis.

Hi. Martin. Yes, all the tools offsets are set against T01 so for any future components the only offset that requires re-establishing would be T01. The problem I'm experiencing is establishing the T01 X offset, which records values ranging from -157 to -98 using the same turned diameter as its refer...

Unable to set a positive offset value in the X axis.

Hi. All. I bought my Novaturn before Christmas but I've have experienced some problems getting to grips with the 2D design side of the package, these are now resolved but now I've got a problem getting the X offset for T01 to behave itself, in all probability its something I'm doing wrong but I have...

Re: 2D Design V:1.26

Hi. Pete. Back when God was a boy and I ran an eight station turret on a Colchester 2000 lathe I always set tools thus: T01 Rough T03 Finish T05 External Screw cutting T07 Part T02 Spot Centre (not centre drill as the pilot is prone to snapping) T04 Drill (stub rather than jobber) T06 Bore T08 Screw...

Re: 2D Design V:1.26

Hi. Pete. Do you mean the tool numbers T01 T02 etc, if so that's where I started to go wrong as I numbered all my tools in sequence as you would for a manual tool change, but in order to use the 2D Design software they must mirror the tool positions in the ATC ie. T01 T03 etc. also you must choose f...

Re: 2D Design V:1.26

Hi. Martin. Sorry about the Steve in the last post, no idea where that came from. Happy to report a degree of success today. I was reasonably sure it would be something I was doing wrong, probably comes from the days when things were not so simple and you had to be on your guard against programing e...

Re: 2D Design V:1.26

Hi. Steve.
Right thanks for that, so if I use Quick Turn I can only use a total of 8 tools even though I have the capacity for more. I'll change the tool numbers to match an ATC and try to generate a test piece of my own design and see how we get on.

Re: 2D Design V:1.26

Hi. Martin. We don't seem to be getting any where with what to me is a very real problem, I'm not getting eggy but if I lay it out in bullet type presentation my problem might (hopefully) start to make some sense. My Novaturn's parameters (VR Turn V1.43) are set for manual tool change, with 12 as th...

Hi. Pete.
Thanks for the offer, but you'd need a flask and sarnies as I live in Hastings!

Re: 2D Design V:1.26

Hi. Pete. Thanks for all your input, but I'm afraid I couldn't open your attachments, hopefully the muddied waters will soon start to clear, but in the mean time there's still G code. Keeping the old skills alive!!!

Re: 2D Design V:1.26

Hi. Martin. The VR Turn parameters are set for a manual tool changer and five tools and their off sets are set from T01 to T05. My question is about the Denford CAD/CAM software that came with the PC as a package. I have Quick Turn V1.26 In tooling/machine, materials options there isn't any obvious ...

Re: 2D Design V:1.26

Hi. Martin. The soft ware is Quick Turn 2 D Design V1.26 which came loaded on a PC along with VR Turn V1.45 which now won't run the machine, the only version that will run the lathe is V1:43 The lathe is a Novaturn commissioned in 1997 to a school in Wales I bought it before Christmas from a chap in...

Re: 2D Design V:1.26

My VR Turn parameters are manual tool change. The point I'm trying to get a definitive answer to is: Will 2D Design generate G code to run a manual tool change Novaturn? The ATC is homed in the positive quadrant while the manual is in the negative, so it follows that any generated G code will have x...

2D Design V:1.26

Hi. I've been struggling for a couple of months to get both pieces of my Novaturn software to preform together. I run V1:43 VR Turning, as its the only version I could get to run on the machine. I've now come to the conclusion that 2D Design will never work with a manual tool change machine. The rea...

Re: Novaturn software V1.45

I'm grateful for any help and advice. As my username might suggest I'm old school G code, never used CAD/CAM for no other reason than it hasn't been explained to me. I've always used computers as a tool without really understanding how it all works, so basic steps in trying to get software to prefor...

Re: Novaturn software V1.45

Hi. Martin. I've always been able to get the tooling options up, the problem is that there doesn't appear to be a way of changing the ATC to manual T/C I have established a tool library from the selection available, I've typed in the off set values from VR Turn, but I cannot change the tool position...

Re: Novaturn software V1.45

Hi. Martin Sorry for not replying sooner. Yes I run V1.26 and I've tried the options, but with no success, the soft ware won't allow me to make any changes to the displayed parameters. The latest suggestion is to run the soft ware via a clean computer. I've ordered a bog basic desk top box that hope...

Re: Novaturn software V1.45

Hi. Martin. Think we need to regroup a bit. Sorry if I appear a bit dim about all this, I've been involved with cnc since the days of punch tape, but I've only really used hand written G code programs. I do have a small cnc mill that runs Mach3 so the only conversational programing I use is via the ...
