Microrouter, PC Win7 VR Milling V5
Hi all, Last year I purchased a Microrouter with no RS232 cable, after a lot of help from very knowledgeable people on here, I managed to purchase a kit, get the cable made up, on the machine and working. I have now decided that I want a bigger machine and was wondering if you someone (or lots of pe...

Re: Microrouter connection problems
Thanks for all the help on here guys, I would like to say its helpful but i'm still confused!!!!! :dumbfounded: My knowledge of what the wires do and what the abbreviations are is lacking to say the least. When I wired up the RS232 cable, it was based on a diagram I had been given, i'm now looking f...

Re: Microrouter connection problems
Hi Pete, Thanks for the info! I'm not using 25 to 25, i'm using 9 female to 25 male. I tried to contact Denford directly, they were less than helpful to be honest, eventually i got them to give me the pin set up they said would work (using 9 wires). So i purchased a DIY rs232 build kit and got to it...

Re: Microrouter connection problems
hi all, I'm still having trouble connecting my machine. I was given a diagram of a pin configuration which i used but isn't working. I have since opened up the big black box to have a look. The attached pictures are what i have found. Can someone please tell me what the make up of the rs232 cable sh...

Re: PLEASE HELP - Missing RS232 Cable
cheers pete, I am on half term and have been away so haven't been able to do much. Today i'm getting in touch with RS Components to see if they can supply me with what i need as i have been told that i can buy a connector that i can just swap the wire around to what i need rather than having to sold...

Re: PLEASE HELP - Missing RS232 Cable
Hi Pete, Thanks for the help. I have a 9 pin port that takes the cable. There is also a 25pin port out of the PC as well but i don't think i need to use that. I actually bough all three versions of an off the shelf RS232 cable, 9 pin to 25pin, 25pin to 25pin and the USB to 25pin, not realizing they ...

Re: Any suggestions for a CAD file viewer?
Hi, I'm fairly new to CNC, as in I've only ever used a microrouter with techsoft 2D design. Is there a "best" design software that you guys use? I have just acquired a Microrouter from a school and have 2D Design in place. (not that I can get my router working yet, RS232 issues, but I will!!!!) Than...

Re: Microrouter connection problems
When you say control, do you mean the big black box that houses all the electrics? I can't see a USB port in there, I assumed it would be USB from the PC to that box as that's where the 25pin RS232 port is. Serial number is HO1184/2 I'll try and get a picture of the sticker as the one I have is too ...

Microrouter connection problems
Good morning all, I have recently purchased a Microrouter from a school as they were no longer using it. They supplied me with the router, a Dell computer and VR Milling V5. They didn't give me a RS232 Cable so I purchased one from Maplin. I bought the 9 pin to 25pin as in the manual. I have set up ...
