Cyclone spares

Further to my ad for Triac spares, I also have the control to my Cyclone available if anybody needs the bits? The machine is a 1998 and available is the chassis with computer, motion control card and other boards, along with floppy drive with disk loaded with software, which all worked before being ...

Re: Cyclone TU150U spindle power clarification

On my spec sheet from Denford, it quotes the motor as 5000RPM 4KW, but I'm pretty sure its the same motor as yours, just originally run at 415v variable frequency rather than 230v variable frequency, both wired in Delta. Also, you won't need a 4KW VFD if you are switching to 230v input, as the motor...

Re: Cyclone TU150U spindle power clarification

A bit of an update... I managed to get the spindle working this morning with a Yaskawa V1000 single to 3 phase vfd! Initial tests have shown it can run up to 3000 rpm with no load quite comfortably, pulling a current of around 3Amps. I need to try it cutting to see if it has enough power at this spe...

Re: Cyclone TU150U spindle power clarification

Thanks for the advice, I have tried a couple of the calculators just to compare the results. So it seems for this size motor at least, that if the rated speed was doubled, the torque would be around half or just less. The numbers don't really mean a whole lot to me in real word terms, so I guess you...

Re: Cyclone TU150U spindle power clarification

Strange I have just stumbled across this, as I'm venturing down the same path! I have been doing a Cyclone retrofit for the last 4 years off and on, got it up and running and had to give up my business premises, brought the machine home to my garage. I don't have 3 phase at home, so have to convert ...

Re: Bearing preload ..viceroy 280 vs

Hi Guys, I'm just jumping into this topic as I seem to have the same problem as everyone else with the plastic gear scenario. I've only recently had my 280 and I got it in place and powered it up. The noise in forward at high speed is unbearable, but not in reverse strangely enough... it runs really...

Re: TU150U spares

The servo's are quite modest really, I believe the bus voltage from the drives is 85v and the continuous torque is around 0.7Nm. Continuous current rating is 3.75A, which makes the power around 320W, ish. I'm replacing with 400W AC servo's, they are rated nearly double the torque of the original Par...

TU150U spares

Hello all, I've decided to retrofit my Cyclone following a servo problem. My X axis servo has a fault with the encoder and is not repairable, so I am replacing the original motors, drives and control with new kit. I have the following available for spares: Computer module with mint card, spindle car...

Re: TU150U wiring schematic?

Thanks a lot for the diagrams :D From the bit of wire tracing I did earlier today it looks quite similar. How do you find your retrofit for reliability and productivity? I've been looking into a few options, cslabs products using mach4 looks favourable, but their kit is quite expensive. I've dabbled...

TU150U wiring schematic?

Hello,

I'm just starting a retrofit on my Cyclone and wondered if there are any generic wiring diagrams for this type of machine? The serial number is: 80625C, dated August 1998. I already have the electrical spec sheet, the conversion would be a bit easier with some wiring information.

Thanks

Re: Servo motor / parameters TU150 U

Hmm yes, I've had some "issues" with it too on a mill conversion, I'm half way through a linux retrofit on the same machine. Have you ever tried linux cnc? I am far from an expert, but it seems really good from what I've experienced so far, plus the boards are really cheap and extremely powerful. Ju...

Re: Servo motor / parameters TU150 U

Thanks for the info. I've ordered my motors and drives now from the manufacturer. I've been advised that, like you say, the encoder output can be scaled from the input to give the desired pulse count per rev. Just a matter of interest, how do you get along with your mach 3 conversion? I'm hoping to ...

Re: Servo motor / parameters TU150 U

Right ok, it seems that my servo manufacturer can't supply a servo with a lesser encoder line count than 2500 lines, because it won't work with the drive or something... So I'm up against a wall really. I'll have a look through some of the other files on the floppy disk as this must be loaded at sta...

Re: Servo motor / parameters TU150 U

Thanks for the reply. First problem is that I can't read the floppy disk just yet, my oldest pc uses XP, which won't read it. I'll try and find something with win 95 or dos etc. I had just been looking at the files available on the denford website under the dos section. There is a .opt file there bu...

Servo motor / parameters TU150 U

I've been having a spell of bad luck with my machine.... My original problem with this cyclone before everything else started going wrong was a slight fault on the x axis servo. The drive was smooth until it required slow feed rates, then the movement was more of a judder. Turns out after much resea...

Re: TOE80 Turret issue

I think the problem has been narrowed down to mechanical wear. It seems that the shock absorbing pads within the turret need replacing. My initial problem occurred when the machine power shut down mid tool change. The turret lost position as it didn't complete the cycle. Tool changing attempts after...
