Re: New software or new controllers?

I ran 2 micromills at work for about 15yrs, great for simple 2D work, I did a lot of 3D prototype work in modelling foam too, I actually modified (reground the tip to a ball nose) a 6mm 1/4" drill bit so i could speed up machining times. Made it possible to machine 50mm/2" depths of cut per pass. It...

Re: New software or new controllers?

Just on another note, in the pic of the NS controller, I noticed there is a blue wire that looks to be disconnected, without going through the wiring diagrams I wouldn't know what it is for though. If I get a bit of time Ill have a look, you can Dload the diagrams from on here although Martin may be...

Re: New software or new controllers?

From looking at the Boards yes, micromills are denstep, Pretty sure the Beta means it can run VR5 as well as VR2. Novaturn is NS later board just prior to the USB port. The VR software is quite powerful stuff. Once you load up the software you will need to select what type of machine it is/board. Th...

Re: nova turn software issue

Hi just fired up both VR mill and VR turn and looked through the settings I can see there are several differences on the communications. Have you tried both the Novaturn and NovaturnNS as the machines? they look to have different settings. When you fire up VRmill and click on the connect to the mach...

Re: New software or new controllers?

Just had a thought, this licence file flash to replace the dongle, I think you may need to just install VR2 then run 'setup' on the disk that has the FLASH.INI file on it, then next time you run VR milling it should work. Which software do you have for the Novaturn? There is a compatibility chart so...

Re: New software or new controllers?

Hi, First it would be useful to know which boards are fitted in the machines, Pop the panel off and a quick pic inside of the board that has the fan blowing on it in the micromills, there should be a 32pin eprom that has a sticker over the window saying which software version it is. From that you ca...

Re: Numeric USB keypad pendant

It should just work, just make sure number lock is turned off on the pad, that switches it to the arrow key, page up/down etc. You can change which keys are used within VR Milling, so you could use any keys you wanted, just go to Setup > Jog Keys > Password 'Denny' >click on what you want to redefin...

Re: Novamill, first time in cnc (Mach conversion)

If you have a look at this link, http://www.denfordata.com/bb/viewtopic.php?f=46&t=4778 I posted up info on the Sprint 400 controller In the 1st dload in the list there is a diagram which indicates you can set up a manual control via a 10k pot with the resistor across pins 1 & 2 and the wiper on 3. ...

Re: TU150U in need of TLC

That sort of sounds like home switch issues BUT only if you had called for a home. Got to be worth checking the functionality of them.

Re: TU150U in need of TLC

Was the movement as soon as power went on or did you press anything. Does it have limit/home switches? When the machines I have worked on power up they sit there, you have to press home for movement, If the location is away from home it drives to the home location at pace, presses the switch, stops,...

Re: electrical power control box to machine

I looked at the thread that had pics of the triac, they have a different set up to what I have used or worked with. I'm used to the denstep, next step type boards. The bottom board has the stepper drivers on, the top board sits directly on top of the bottom covering it and is the main logic/digital ...

Re: electrical power control box to machine

Well, you have gone beyond my knowledge other than there are quite a few posts where people have done conversions. In a lot of cases the control is the same within the different machines so seeing how some did it with another machine would help. Which board is in the triac? From the description of w...

Re: electrical power control box to machine

I like the denford control, quite robust and a bit over the top on safety but having a target market in the education sector it's needed. Pretty sure you should be able to dload the wiring diagrams for it, you should be able to check fuses and power supplies if you are handy with a meter. Dont rely ...

Re: Yep, another machine can't connect

On the 2 rs232 ports actually a lot still do, if they have one on the back there is normally another which just needs a header off the mother board. I know USB is the thing but as it has distance issues and a lot of technology is using rs232 with a usb to rs232 converter in the plug.

Re: electrical power control box to machine

I would have thought the steppers would be powered, they are on all the other denford machines I have encountered even with no computer hooked up. All I can say is there is lots of info on here, it takes time to work through it and some can contradict if you have worked with RS232 set ups in the pas...
