Wow - been 9 months and no replies? Just got time to delving into it and thought someone may have some ideas by now....
Seems like someone would have converted this unit before - looks like a tiny G board may work. Will let you know.

After posting the following in the wrong board someone kindly pointed me here and this is the machine I have. It is a 1996 - the schematics I see here seem to be 2000 and up.
