I would suggest you have look at some of the you tube machinists channels.
ABOM79, Doubleboost, Keith Fenner etc,etc.
They are usually entertaining and will help you pick up some knowledge.

TDS 1/1 G.B.L Lathe cross slide feedscrew replacement.
I had a go at replacing the feedscrew on my Viceroy last weekend, it all went pretty well. The cross slide play is now about .005" maximum, fore and aft, but it takes a fair amount of pressure to get that figure. I made a new collar to retain the screw, and put two 4mm grub screws in it, that made a...

Re: TDS 1/1 Feeds and speeds plate
Hi,
I think what the plate says may depend on the model of lathe,i.e. Metric or Imperial.
Mine is metric.

Re: TDS 1/1 GBL Help Please
You reverse the leadscrew drive using the tumbler gear, under the end cover.
(See pictures- Note-not my lathe)
If it only goes in one direction it might be because there is a problem with the drive train.
I think a pin can shear in such a way that it transmits the drive, but only in one direction.

Re: TDS 1/1 G.B.L Lathe cross slide feedscrew replacement.
Hi Pete, The "New" feedscrew appears to be very similar to the old one, the working bits, that is the screwed section and thrust collar appear identical. It is about 2 inches longer though, there is no provision for fixing holes for the collar and handle though. I'm going to try and get the old feed...

TDS 1/1 G.B.L Lathe cross slide feedscrew replacement.
Hi, I have been lucky enough to get a Cross slide feedscrew for my Lathe off Ebay. The seller listed it as part no ML100/514B. (The current cross slide feedscrew is badly worn). Drawing ML 100/500 which is the arrangement drawing shows the feedscrew no as ML 110/501 (my lathe is a GB lathe with PCS)...

Re: Where to get an SN 40 C chuck
I think there may be some mistake, the "SN40C" lathe appears to be manufactured by TOS.
Whilst I'm sure it is an excellent lathe, this is a Denford forum.
Perhaps someone may be able to help though.

Re: Phase Converter Help For Viceroy TDS 1/1 GBL
Have a look inside the motor terminal box. If it has 6 connections a VFD should be simple enough.
You could take a picture and post it on here as well.

Re: viceroy 1/2
Hi Steve, I'm a bit baffled by your problems. Don't scrap it, that would be a shame. Of course the saddle should be free to move manually when the half nuts are disengaged and the lock is free. Any chance of some pictures ? I wonder if you have managed to bend the leadscrew or feedscrew ? Are you in...

Re: Viceroy Advice wanted
Hi Steve, Commiserations on some really bad luck. I had a quick search and "Shiply" don't seem to get good reviews. It looks like something is bent, probably the long travel gear drive shaft. You need to dismantle the assembly and prove that the saddle itself is free to slide. A new gear shaft may n...

Re: Viceroy TDS6 Drive Belt
I had trouble with the length specification for a V-belt for my ride on mower. There seems to be some variation on how they are measured. Took two tries to get the right size. If I were you I would fit a link belt, requires no dismantling of the lathe and appears to work fine. This sort of stuff: ht...

I'm not sure what the answer to your problem is.... but I'm just wondering if you have had a good look at the drawings in the announcements above ? https://www.denfordata.com/bb/viewtopic.php?f=50&t=3649 The drawing PD1.pdf appears to show the problem area. It may be there is a fastening still to be...

Hello, I would like to ask for some advice from the experts on here... I just bought a set of Indexable tip tools from Myford and they are fine for me. I can get a good finish on stainless and a good finish on Brass. On Mild steel the finish looks like an old Vinyl LP, if you can remember those thi...

Re: Upper belt tension adjusters?
I know what you mean, I have experienced it myself. I think the screws get very tight because there is nothing to keep the screws in alignment with each other. It isn't obvious which screw needs to screw up or down to maintain the horizontal alignment, if the alignment isn't maintained it jams up. A...
